A preliminary model compares the current and proposed time per unit, annual volume, labor rate, burden assumptions, and implementation requirements. Savings remain estimates until the process is observed or validated through trials.

What must be observed versus estimated?

Observed cycle time and physical steps are stronger evidence than assumptions. When direct observation is unavailable, customer standards, video review, engineering estimates, or supplier information can be used, but each input should remain clearly labeled.

What happens after the review?

If an opportunity is justified, the next steps may include structural direction, prototypes, equipment or workstation review, supplier quotations, testing, stakeholder approval, changeover planning, and measurement of actual results.
